Terrific new Iron Fist trailer out of New York Comic Con

What you don't see in this trailer is the villain.

The actress playing the villain is the great Sigourney Weaver

Some new Iron Fist footage in this first official trailer released from Netflix:

I thought the girl was possibly the White Tiger, but alas, according to IMDb it is just Colleen Wing (which is still pretty cool!). I love all the supporting casts in these shows. We get to see so many characters I never thought we would see on the screen.

Worth your time if you're planning to watch Iron Fist

I've had so many other things to watch since Luke Cage came out and after making it halfway through the first episode, it just didn't do the same thing for me that Daredevil or Jessica Jones did. I finally finished the first episode, and I've just got done with Ep 3. It's gotten a lot better and has really started to suck me in. I quite enjoyed this episode with the tiara, bracelet/gauntlets, yellow shirt ("You look like a fool."), and even the "Sweet Christmas"! My hope is to jam through the season with an episode or two each day so that I'm all caught up before Iron Fist. I can't wait to see it all come together with The Defenders. While I enjoy what DC is doing on the CW, these series of Marvel shows rings more true for me and I enjoy them quite a bit.

Word around the twittersphere is that those who saw the first couple episodes are massively disappointed.

Yeah, I read the review on io9 that said there should be wall-to-wall action in this series, but there are just too many board room scenes of people just talking. However, if they only saw the first couple of episodes, maybe things will eventually pick up? *fingers crossed*

I've read about 4 reviews. They focused half the articles on "white savior", "being part of the 1%," "mansplaning to Colleen," & how Marvel should've cast an Asian actor.* Other concerns were pacing, poor fight scenes, & Finn's inability to convey the weight of the character.

    * I argue casting an Asian male to play a martial arts expert would be a stereotype cliche. If they wanted diversity, I'd have cast a Hispanic, Middle Eastern, or Native American (not the Johnny Depp or Liz Warren type). If they wanted to pursue an Asian character, then drop Iron Fist altogether and make a Shang-Chi series instead.

Word on the twitterverse is there are more SJWs complaining about it than have actually seen it.

With last year's Doctor Strange & this year's Ghost in the Shell whitewashing, I get the frustration with a lack of Asian culture. I thought the director's reasoning for casting Tilda was weak. There was zero issues with The Wolverine having a mostly Asian cast. I understand why ScarJo was cast in GitS; truthfully my only shred of interest in the movie is because she's in it. The trailers don't make it look like an original concept.

I also see how casting an Asian for this role could backfire. I recall reading a review of Suicide Squad criticizing the stereotypes of a Hispanic gang member, an African-American loving chicken, an Asian martial artist, & an Australian who throws boomerangs. Would Iron Fist have suffered the same? "The only leading hero role for an Asian actor is a martial artist."

I know it's because I'm white privileged that I've never saw characters like Batman as a 1% male savior helping people. I know it's because I'm a male that I never considered a dissenting conversation with females as "mansplaining". SJW have made me realize that I shouldn't help anyone. I don't want to be seen as a "male, white, closer to 1% savior."

Even though the whole Shang-Chi character is derivative of Bruce Lee, I would totally watch the hell out of a Shang-Chi series.

One reviewer said that Daredevil was the worst of all the Netflix shows so there goes their credibility. I'll just wait till next week and see for myself. I mean the first seven episodes of Luke Cage were great and then ppppphhhhhhffffftttttttttttttt the show took a huge shift.

DD is great but I've been pretty down on the other Marvel Netflix shows. I can't say I have high hopes for Iron Fist but I really want it to surprise me.

Currently 14% on Rotten Tomatoes, up from the earlier 0%. They managed to find 2 people who enjoyed the first 6 episodes they sent out for review.

It sounds like it's disappointing beyond the adherence to Roy Thomas' hoary old Green Lama rip-off origin. Finn Jones being miscast seems a recurring comment. Who knows, maybe it does a reverse Luke Cage and gets better in the second half? Possibly by adding Luke Cage? Iron Fist as part of a duo with Power Man was always better than him as a solo character, as it dilutes his lame origin.

3 episodes into Iron Fist and it's like if Arrow hadn't figured out it was a prime-time soap opera and took itself too seriously.

I think my favorite bit in that clip was:

"No that's shrimp. Oh, this guy's got pork"
    "God, you're weird."

I've become most interested in the interaction of Murdock & Jones then the others based on the 2 trailers.

And I know because of its success, Wonder Woman has become the symbol for strong female characters & feminism, but since I first saw Aliens (I didn't see Alien until later) Sigourney Weaver/Ripley was the person/character that defined that symbol for me.

I know the first season had its speed bumps, but I'm glad Netflix is taking the chance with a second season.

I can't rule out, aside from the casting of Rand, that they'll fix some of the issues from season 1.

Just make it a buddy cop show with Misty & Colleen and sideline Danny as much as possible :)

While I wouldn't be against this, Netflix should just give them their own show.
