RIP Carrie Fisher: 1956-2016

I was seven when the first Star Wars came out. A great age to be introduced to Princess Leia. This princess was not your old school princess. She'd trash talk Grand Moff Tarkin to his face! She'd grab the gun from Luke and save everyones ass. She told daddy where to get off! And Carry Fisher sold the character perfectly. Her performance is part in my movie loving DNA. A little piece of my youth that is now no longer around. She was funny, she was sassy, she will be missed. Rest in peace your hignessness.

A perfect time to share Frank Cho's rejected Star Wars cover with Leia holding the weapon that represented her enslavement and helped win her freedom. It was rejected because, at the time of its production, Lucasfilm/Disney were no longer allowing artists to draw Princess Leia as “Slave Leia” or “Hutt Killer” from Return Of The Jedi.

And now, sadly, Carrie's mother, Debbie Reynolds, has also passed on. How devastating for their entire family.
